WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL HEALING? WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL HEALING?
Craniosacral Healing® is an exceptionally gentle and intense body and energy work.
The name Craniosacral comes from the involved bones, cranium (skull) and sacrum (end of the spine). The cerebrospinal fluid extends from the brain where it is produced, to the end of the spine and weighs gently and rhythmically the surrounding membranes and bones.
Practitioners of Craniosacral Healing® use this rhythmic movement to identify restrictions within the system and throughout the body’s connective tissue and help to release them in a pleasant way. Craniosacral Healing® supports the innate ability of the body to heal itself and also reduces tension and stress.
While the person is lying down completely dressed, the practitioner creates light contact with your head, the base of your spine, and other areas, encouraging your body to relax and to make the changes necessary. Because the body functions as a whole, the practitioner may focus on areas other than where your symptoms occur. Often people report relief after only one or two sessions while for long-standing problems further sessions may be needed.
Craniosacral Healing® is a holistic approach and therefore people may come for treatment both because of physical or emotional problems such as:
- Headaches
- Stress
- Digestive problems
- Menstrual disorders
- Hypertension
- Psychosomatic diseases
- Post-traumatic condition
- Sleeping disorders
- Migraines
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Depression
Often during a process-oriented session language is also included. One form of it is the therapeutic dialogue with parts of the unconscious personality for which language-tools from NLP are also used. This way the therapist is in direct contact with the psychosomatic condition and its healing. All the answers lie in the client but it is the role of the therapist to bring the client into contact with his/her inner resources so that healing from within can take place.
